The place

Beneath these vaults, six centuries of history still live.

Built in 1462, the Grand Maison hosted some of the greatest writers — Rousseau, Goethe, Chateaubriand, Liszt, Dumas. Today, under the name La Voûte, it continues this tradition of hospitality, art and encounter.

La Voûte

A living place
inside a 15th-century building.

Under the name La Voûte, the Grand Maison of Martigny — a 1462 building that hosted Rousseau, Goethe, Liszt and Dumas — now welcomes a gallery, concerts and encounters. The project is led by Mizette Putallaz, Valais painter and owner of 14 rue du Manoir.

Discover the project

After crossing that fearsome torrent we entered the bourg of Martigny; half an hour later, we were quietly settled at the hôtel de Grande-Maison.

— Fée, 1895
